Risk Assessment for Returning to Singing
at St. Aloysius RC Church
HEBBURN
On Monday 6 September 2021
and following Mondays until further notice
at 6.30 to 8 pm
This Risk Assessment is specific to the use of St. Aloysius Church for the purposes of rehearsals of the above choir. It takes into account the existing Diocesan generic Risk Assessment and all the Covid-19 safety arrangements already in place at this venue.

Controls
When entering St. Aloysius Church, all members must:

Wear a mask until seated ready to sing

Sanitize hands at sanitizing station
-
Have their temperature taken (if a high temperature is indicated, the member will be asked to leave and return home immediately to take a test and inform Track & Trace if positive)

Register as present (details of each member for Track & Trace purposes already compiled)

Bring own Concert file (New song sheets will be placed on seats, distributed by one member wearing gloves) and a pen (no sharing)

Bring own mug for refreshments (one member will dispense hot water to avoid cross contamination)

Take drink to seat.

Use one-way system and keep social distance, following signs and stickers.

Controls
In order to reduce transmission of virus through small droplets and aerosols, additional ventilation will be provided through open doors at the back of the church and outside door next to the altar.

Social distancing will be 2 metres when seated/standing to sing (stickers indicate).

Musical Director will direct from the organ, and keyboard, both of which are at least 2 metres away.
Singers will be side by side, no face to face singing. Rows between pews have been roped off, so choir (40 people max) will be well spaced out. This venue was chosen for the large cavernous, well ventilated nature of the church.
Singers to exercise restraint and rehearse fortissimo passages quietly in order to minimise transmission through small droplets and aerosols.

Controls

Choir members who clean, should do so in the manner specified by St Aloysius Church and using the products supplied.

All other choir members should vacate the premises before cleaning begins.

Masks should be worn throughout and until leaving the premises.
